Cha Cha Cha CHIA!

These little suckers pack a ton of health benefits!
LOVE! read more here: nuts.com

I love them for so many reasons: their omega-3s which are amazing for skin, and joints. They also help hydrate your body, and help you loose weight (always a bonus) and taste darn good in just about anything you put them in.  First thing to know is that they absorb things, I'm sure you have seen them on kombucha and some health drinks, but my favorite is this pudding.

Chia seeds have that same gel consistency as tapioca.

There are several variations and extracts (organic/ natural ones I hope) you can add to further the taste.  But lets keep it simple.  With healthy, simple and pure is always better and better for the bod.

1/4 cup Chia Seeds (organic preferred)
1cup coconut Milk (unsweetened original or vanilla)
1 teaspoon vanilla extract (optional: less or more depending on your likes)

stir together and place in fridge till pudding consistency (like 10-15 mins)

Top with:
 some cinnamon
and drizzle a bit of honey over the top for more of a dessert taste.

Other variations:
You can use almond milk (another fav)
and sweeten with agave
vanilla or almond extract
stir and let it set in fridge
top with toasted coconut or cinnamon.
you can add fresh strawberries, I mean the combos are endless

Get creative and have some fun - these little suckers are also a great add throw in smoothies, coconut water, You get it (just allow a few minutes for them to do their thing).  Oh they can be found at your local whole foods, Trader Joe's, or local health food store.

From my fam to yours xoxo

Mediterranean Home Goes Hollywood

This home have to admit was a brain buster, and so fun!
Anyone even looking at this place obviously loves West Hollywood. Soooo translated to me -  sophisticated, slightly modern and edgy, yet elegant, with a hint of trend.

Yes those are Chevron Vases :)  yeahaa! For sure to dress up any lame fire place.

Course the glam factor, it's Hollywood!
Touches of antique silver really bring this look home, no pun intended ;)

I'll post the before and afters of the space soon.  Photo shoot is today.
Gotta run.  Happy hump day!

A Splash of Happy

Lots of Fun goin on here.

The week was all over the place awesomeness.
My mornings were filling with Bar Method (aahh a must start!- better then coffee) The usu meetings, empty homes to be filled, candle lit painting time and tons of ideas that are starting to pile up in my head and home.
Hands need to work faster and the days longer.  Always right.

OOhh and opened a little store on Etsy. Mostly Bohemian Grandma esque? New style just wait.
Home Love Decor (my store) is open for shopping. It's just a little exstention of me and all over the map: colorful retro, little handmade goods (art as of now), cool vintage finds, and some refurbished furniture to come.  Rome wasn't built in a day :)
Please share and take a look. Much Love!

Next little adventure must try

Happy weekend!

Healthy Beet Recipes (don't be scared)

It's sooo easy!!  Promise (Trader Joe's makes it! )
Sweat Po, Kale, Beet Salad

How much?  just equal parts of each                                      Toasted Almonds (or any raw nut)
make sure they are cool before you toss in

Ingredients:
Kale - 1 bag
Sweet Potatoes - about 3 sm.
Beets (steamed and peeled) - 1 box or 4 individual beats
Grape Seed Oil (better for cooking)  - thinly coat bottom of pan (for the SP)

All you have to do is cook the Sweet Potatoes:
Here is the trick, cube them small (they will cook faster) on a medium low flame, with a lid. U have to stir them (cause they can burn)  Add salt and pepper and some california chille powder, twice as they cook; to layer the flavor.  They take like 15 mins - take off the lid and get out all the moisture the last few minutes (Don't over cook them cause mushy is not good).  Place on a plate and toss them in the freezer.

Cube beets, de-stem the kale (fine raw) (why de-stem? cause the stems are quite hard and bitter)
chop up kale.

Get sweet potatoes out of freezer (they should be cool now, not frozen)
mix sweet potatoes, kale and beets together - set a side.

Dressing time: in cup or jar
Lemon(s) - 1 large or 2 sm squeezed
Olive Oil - 1 Tablespoon
Rosemary - a few sprigs (i like quite a bit) and minced super fine
Salt and Pepper to your liking
Stir or shake (i make mine in a jar)

Pour dressing over Sweet Po. Kale Beet Salad add the cooled toasted almonds and your done!

you may need to salt and pepper it all together - just depends on you;)

and that is it! = Yummy healthy tasty goodness! I promise it's filling too (and pretty).
Hope you like.  One of our favs!!!

Here is an even easier one: Lentil, Beet, Cucumber and Avocado

Don't even give me "I have no time this will take you 5 mins"
Super filling! Perfect for a lunch.
lentils are a great protein, other then a meat ;)

Ingredients:
Lentils: pre everything from Trader Joe's - 1 box use 1/2 the package
Beets - 1 box (steamed and peeled from TJ)
Cucumber - 5 inches
Avocado - 1 large or 2 small

Cube beets cucumbers and avo, mix with lentils

now Dressing:
Olive Oil - drizzle over (haha) like 1 tablespoon
Rice Wine Vinegar  - a few shakes
Lime - 1 lime squeezed
Salt and Pepper - to your liking

You can also add toasted almonds or a nut to add a crunch

the dressings you can get creative, or keep it this simple - u can even use the same one from above.  Just needs to bring out the natural flavor of the veggies :)
